3.5: weapons with wounding property

So I was flipping through the 3.5 DMG last night looking to see what other enchantments I might want to get added to my pc's sword and I came across the wounding special property.  Wow!  This seems...

Re: 3.5: weapons with wounding property

That does seem cheap for no save. Then again, combats IMC seem to take less than 10 rounds, meaning the con damage won't even kill someone with average constitution who gets hit once a round.

Re: 3.5: weapons with wounding property

True, but every 2 points of Con damage decrease the enemy's hp by an amount equal to their level thanks to the decreasing Con. I've never given it much thought before, but it does sound a bit harsh!

Wounding Arrows and Multishot is the key to killing Orcus (he has a Con score, unlike his undead minions who don't)

Re: 3.5: weapons with wounding property

Pathfinder nerfs the wounding property to hit point damage, but explicitly states that the bleed stacks with itself.

Re: 3.5: weapons with wounding property

I had a character in a living campaign (regional Convention-based campaign, non-RPGA) and was able to cash in some treasure/money towards getting a weapon of wounding. It was pretty sweet, esp. with...

Moorg - That's why, in one of my campaigns, everyone you fight would also have weapons with that property. . . even the orcs and skeletons. If a standard special property is the "key" to taking out...

Re: 3.5: weapons with wounding property

My point still stands that it's far too powerful an ability. Not that I wouldn't allow an item that could do that kind of thing into the players' hands. I just feel it should be something researched...

I presented the "brokenness" of this last week to my Thursday gaming group and let them know that I'd be houseruling it.  After reading it over, the other gamers who GM decided that they'd do the...

Re: 3.5: weapons with wounding property

Frankly, I think the Pathfinder version is more broken than the 3.5 one.Losing 1 Con point is bad, but bleed damage is really nasty. It's not too bad for PCs (with lots of access to curatives), but...

Re: 3.5: weapons with wounding property

OK, "Heal" is not a trained only spell, so even those untrained in it can make a roll with their Wis bonus, right? Correct me if I'm wrong, but that means that anything sentient can try to stop the...

Damien's observation is a sound bit of warning of possible abuses of bleeding.  I assume that he means that the party leaves the combat via dimension door or teleporting.  Otherwise the creature...
